Labor Day Weekend was great! Rory, Mike's best friend/best man (and my friend too), came to visit us in Houston. The previous week weather forecasters were warning that GUSTAV could hit Houston, so we were concerned that we may have to evacuate. We talked with Rory about it so he knew what his trip might turn into, and he was even more excited about the thought of evacuating with us and "being stranded together forever" (his words, not mine). As you can tell from the outdoor photos, there was NO rain, NO wind, NO GUSTAV. So while our friends and families were worrying about our safety, we were hanging out in the sun having a good time! Rory and Mike were glad to see each other (as usual) and spent the whole weekend laughing and joking. As you can tell from the photos, they are the same silly guys. And yes, Rory is actually pointing his "gun fingers" while making a shooting noise. And no, we didn't tell him to put on either hat.
We can't wait for our next Houston visitors. There is a comfy bed waiting for you!
Photo 1: Getting Limeades at Sonic on our way home from the Woodlands. Rory hated his.
Photo 2: Rory shooting us on the Kemah Boarwalk (in front of many people). This is right before he imitated the Dippin' Dots girl, and before he wished the bracelet girl a happy evacuation.
Photo 3: Rory trying on a stupid hat/cap thing at Banana Republic. This is right before he gave the sales lady a hard time.
Photo 4: Our home! Also from Rory's camera.
Photo 5: In front of our house looking east down the street. Notice the beautiful trees and pretty sky. Rory left his camera at our house, so I took the liberty of stealing the photos. By the way, he is REALLY forgetful. He left his jacket in Las Vegas, which I kindly brought to Houston. He remembered to take it home, but he left his jeans and camera.
Photo 6: In Kemah with the Bay (that leads out to the Gulf) in the background. You can see some crazy Texans taking their boats out. Please remember that this was before GUSTAV made landfall and some were still predicting it to hit Houston. I guess we are crazy Californian-Texans though because we purposely went to the water for lunch despite the impending hurricane.
Rory asked the Kemah Boardwalk employee (whose job it is to take photos of people to sell as keychains, etc) to take a photo using OUR camera. She said she was a pro and they worked a deal where she took one with her's and then our's. He gave her a hard time too.
Photo 7: The boys on the Kemah Boardwalk.
