Summertime in Texas

I'd like to start by saying that I do not intentionally only post when we go on trips, but I usually figure that no one cares about the mundane things we do. HOWEVER, I keep noticing that my friends post about everything!!! And I enjoy it! Therefore, I will make an effort to post more often so people do not think we just go on trips (although I love that anyone would think my life is so charmed). :)

With that said, we went to Austin this past weekend! The purpose: to visit the wineries in Fredericksburg. Mike and I had been to F-burg with my dad in 2007 for a USMC 4th of July parade/picnic, and we loved it. We kept hearing about the wineries and in an effort to experience all things Texas, I planned a little trip with our friends Paul and Layne.

Our first stop: none other than the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, Texas! I really don't know why we haven't made the one hour drive there before. The $1 scoops make Brenham the new Mecca for my ice cream-obsessed husband.

We decided to stay in Austin, since all the B & B's in F-burg were quite pricey. It worked perfectly because we got to hang out on 6th street (weirdo street) and see Briana and Steve!!

We visited Grape Creek and Becker Vineyards. Both were delicious but we all agreed that Grape Creek was better. It was less commercialized and the grounds were breathtaking! AND...we got free wine glasses with the vineyard logos. I LOVE free stuff!

The last picture was taken when the boys decided to sit on what they thought was a cool bench but ended up being the most uncomfortable bench. We made them smile for a picture and this is the second shot after they both acted totally weird in the first.
