Iowa!

My dad's old house

It's been quite a while since I updated everyone on our goings on. Volleyball is over for me and I can finally start to relax and work normal hours. No more 6 am -8 pm and dinner at 8:30 pm schedule. I can again do some things that I love and regain my gym rat status. I had sore arms for the first time in two months and I LOVED it!

Last weekend, I went to Iowa for my Uncle's 80th birthday celebration. I loved seeing my parents and sister, cousins, aunt, uncle, second cousins, and third cousin (my second cousin's son...I don't know how to characterize that). We always drive around town to see what's changed and my dad points out his old houses, schools, etc. We stopped to take a picture at one of his houses and the owner came walking (quickly and slightly worriedly) out the front door. My dad quickly told him that he used to live there and he let us come in and look around. We also stopped by the War Memorial and my dad's childhood barber shop and I met Don Lee, the man who cut my dad's hair when he was little. Don was so sweet and very touched that we took the time to see him. Of course, we stopped at Birdsall's for an ice cream shop treat. I still haven't found a better ice cream store than Birdsall's.
